8 Skaters in the Snow!

ENOUGH !!!!
That’s right! 8 men showed up last night in the “storm that finished at 5:30 PM”. Oh! And Matt was there too with his 2 new luffas. These were from his new sponsors, Jean Coutu feminine hygiene department and Cross Roads for Women.

We played the Islanders last night, they had 9 skaters to our 8. But you could see the determination in our eyes! Maybe it was the stars, because the storm had passed at 5:30 PM, and the skies were clear, as well as the roads!

We jumped out to a 2-0 lead. The guys looked liked they were going light up the other goalie. I think the first one was a weak one. This seemed to give the illusion that we were on cruise control, but they quickly tied it up after numerous spectacular saves by our goalie. (At least that’s how I remember it!)

They went ahead 3-2 on a shot from the corner that went off my stick. Bad goal. They kept coming at us, they had some good skaters and moved the puck well. Guy spent half the night in the penalty box. I think he was blaming his skates as he was always trying to wipe the snow off of them, and it looked like he was talking to them??? He quickly redeemed himself after the 3rd penalty with 2 goals to give us the edge 4-3. The Islanders pressed hard, pulling their goalie with 2 mins left, but our strong defensive??? what I meant to say was our strong goaltending sealed the win for the good guys. The highlight of the night was Matt’s ability to calculate the exact amount of length to miss the open net by to make a perfect bank pass behind the net to Noe on the other side for an easier tap in. Great job Matt!

God Damned Face Off!

WTF !!!
Got a stinking 5-5 tie with the Red Bastards at the Cage.  This one we can put down with an (*).  We had a full crew and they were short so Gilles and Marc crossed over to even things up a bit. For us on the back end we had Brian, Ti-ga, Matt, and Andy.  Upfront we yours truly, Karl, Noe, PA, Guy, JP, and Gauvin. They got on the board first to make it 1-0.  We then ripped off the next four to make it 4-1.  Both Ronnie and Rob "The Red Bastard" were on their game and made some great saves at both ends.  Of course it didn't end there.  We got lazy and they stormed back to tie it 4-4.  JP banged one home from his office to grab a one goal lead 5-4 with about 7 or 8 minutes left.
We got a late tripping penalty with a little over a minute left.  As it played out, there was one more face off with about 10 seconds left.  I tied up the center man and the puck was in our feet.  Somehow it squirted out and they one-timed it top corner with 2 fucking seconds left to tie it....CALISSE !!!!

Super Seven Part "Deux"

Matt, you really need new pants
That's right Kids!  The Super Seven played a barn burner vs. the Bulls last night at the Cage.  They only had seven as well so we played 4-on-4...it was a blast! Well, the goalies might not have had as much fun as we did, but whatever...they're Goalies! lol
It ended 12 or 11 to 10, it was hard to keep track, but we managed to beat them by 2 or 3.
Up front, the speedy Ti-Boy, Paul, Gilles, and myself.  On D we had Pierre, then we had two "Rovers", PA and Matt.  It was actually a lot of fun, lots of ice and a little extra time to make some plays.

Harder than it had to be

What the Hell !!!
We beat Alexandria 6-5 in what should not have been that hard.  We had 12 skaters!  The Mouldy bunch had only 7...and we barely squeaked it out.  We got up 4-2 at one point and were in control.  Then we started to get lazy and they started to pin us in.  Throw in some penalties and all of sudden they peeled off 3 in a row to take the lead 5-4!  We finally woke up and Brian tied it with his second of the game with around 3 minutes to go.  Guy and Gauvin had a great little give and go off a turn over and Guy got the winner with a little over a minute to play...Phew!!!
We made it harder than it had to be, especially with 12 skaters vs. 7.
On to the next one.
