The Sad Six

4 on 4 , Yikes!
Only three days after getting 16 skaters out, we faced the Bulls with only 6.  Thanks to Gaston and Wally for coming out.
There we were, myself, PA, JP, Rene, Ti-ga, and Gaston. The Bulls were only 8 so we went with four-on-four.  Wow...lots of skating!
We had our chances and got lots of shots, but the Bulls goalie was solid and was the difference.  We got within one goal a couple of times, but sagged down the stretch.  Their two extra skaters made the difference. We went down 9-6 or something like that.

Chippy Win

Merry Xmas!
Beat Here for Beer 4-1 in a chippy affair.  I won't list who was there because EVERYONE was there!  We had three lines and 6 D....crazy!
Here for Beer had two lines and we wore 'em down.  It could have been a lot worse, we definitely carried the play and peppered their goalie, but he was on his game.  John was between the pipes for us and had a good game.  He made some solid saves when he had to, especially late when we started to float a bit.
I was chippy and filled with penalties.  Not our usual game vs. those guys.
So there ya have it, 4-1 for the Good Guys!

Barn Burner !!!

11-7!  Holy Barn Burner!
Byline: PA

For the record (blog) Doug, last night we had a 4-2 lead.  They scored 4 straight to make it 6-4 for the bad guys.  We came back (and I use the “we” term loosely) and scored like 7 goals straight and they got one back in the end for a 11-7 win for the good guys!

Truth be known, Marc’s buddy Gislain? got 6-7 amazing goals.  He had the sights dialed in just right.

We had two even lines, the other team only had 3 spares.  Darrell brought out a new guy that had lots of jump in his skates.  Darrell, new guy and Gislain dominated the scoring.  Karl, Gilles and JP had lots of possession in their zone but were not as successful on the board.  Brian and Marc played D.  I played with Matt and kept pinching up so he could not run me over again.

Hung on for the Win!

Beat Here for Beer 4-3.  Ti-Boy brought his son Miguel to play goal (that was the best move he made all day).
We had to hang on in this one.  And, we had to kill off 4 or 5 penalties.  We managed to get ourselves 4-1 lead, and of course in traditional Lewisville fashion, had lots of chances to extend the lead, but didn't.
Miguel wasn't overly busy, but made some great saves when he had to.  A sliding pad save and a late breakaway helped us hang on.
Can't remember who was there, but we had four D, two centers and three sets of wingers.  It mad all the difference, since they only had 2 lines.
So there ya have it, 4-3 for the Good Guys!

2 Hands for beginners ???

lost 5-2

We had “2 hands for beginners” playing...

Bad game all around...

Up front we had Pierre, Darryl for 2 or 3 shifts, he got hurt and left., Bobby, Karl, Noe and Gilles I think, and of course 2 hands for beginners... After Darryl got hurt, we had 2 lines up front. On one we had Karl, Bobby and 2 hands. Karl looked like Nathan Mackinnon with all his speed out there....

The other line was Noe, Gilles and Pierre.

On D we had Matt, Brian, Marc Cormier and PA.

Tie....Again!

Don't quite know how to explain this one.  Tied Molson 4-4 and we had to come back with 2 late goals to do it.
Up front we had yours truly, Marc S., Stephane (new guy), Gilles, PA, Darrell, Rene, JP, and Bobby.  On the back end Andy, Marc C., Brian, Gauvin, and our Rover  Matt.

Time for a little History lesson, Kids!
Cyclone Taylor, here with thePortage Lakes Hockey Club,
played some rover during his career.

Yes the Rover is an actual Hockey position.

Wikipedia : Rover

Anyway, they got on the board first to make it 1-0. We got the next couple to take the lead 2-1. Then of course for the next ten minutes or so, we should have put these guys away, but couldn't bury our chances.
Sure enough, we went to sleep and they banged home the next three and they we were down 2 with about 6 minutes to go.
We found some urgency and tied it up with two quick ones, had a few chances to win it, but couldn't cash in.
So there ya have it, tie 4-4 with Molson Bastards.

Dragon Voodoo curse

WTF !!!
What is it with these guys?  I'm not going to get into this one.....
We had nine skaters show up.  A sloppy penalty filled shit cookie of a game. We blew a 2 goal lead down the stretch and tied the Dragons 4-4.

Great Game

Beat the Machine (formerly Investors) 5-2 last night on their home ice at the Coliseum.  Upfront we yours truly, Marc S., Noe, Karl, PA, Ti-ga, Trevor (new guy),  and JP. On the back end we had Andy, Marc C., Matt, and Brian.
We jumped out to 3-0 lead.  Marc C. rang one of the post with a shot from the right hand circle, Trevor banged in a rebound in front of the net, and Matt ripped one from inside of the Blue line. Then they started to pick it up.  Ronnie was on his game and wasn't giving up and cheap stuff. But, they clawed their way back with a couple of quick ones and all of a sudden it's 3-2.  The game settled in with the Machine taking the advantage of play.  During this stretch Ronnie made some key saves.  The highlight being a poke check on a semi breakaway.
We started skating a bit more and managed to get a little push back.  We broke it open with Noe finishing off a great passing play to get us a two goal lead at 4-2 with about 5 minutes to go.  That broke 'em.  PA got a tap-in, in front of the net with under a minute to go to seal the deal, 5-2 for the Good Guys.  Take that, ya Machine Bastards!

Two ties in a row

Not much to report here.  Two ties in a row.

Almost fell asleep with the Dragons

Sleepy time......
What the hell is it with these guys? We hung on for a 3-2 win, but again, we let these guys hang around.
Upfront we had yours truly, Gilles, Darrell, Michel, Bobby, and Karl.  On the back end we had Go20, Marc S., Ti-ga, and PA.
For the first 30 minutes is was 0-0.  We had the advantage of play but we weren't really pressing. We killed off a couple of penalties, but it was a clean game for the most part.  We finally got on the board with Gilles finally burying one in the slot, then Gilles got a gimme as Darrell took the initial shot, I poked at the rebound and it dribbled between the gaolie's legs and Gilles tapped it in the open net.  A short while later PA ripped one off the iron from the point on the power play.
Then Dragons lulled us to sleep again and we started to fade and they got a couple.  They pulled the goalie but no go.  Ronnie wasn't extremely busy but made 3 or 4 really good saves at the right time and there ya have it, 3-2 for the good guys.  Take that, ya Dragon Bastards!

In the "W" column

First win of the season, beat the Bulls 8-4 last night at the Cage....had to bust out the old Lewisville Mustard sweaters to get 'er done.

On the back end we had Marc S., Andy, Matt, and Marc C. (out of retirement).  Upfront yours truly, PA, Noe, Gilles, JP, Darrell (new guy), Bobby, Gauvin, and Karl. Ronnie was between the pipes.
We got out to a 2-0 lead but then saw that evaporate as they picked away and scored three unanswered goals to take the lead 3-2.  It was only a matter of time, they only had two lines so we eventually wore them down.  We stormed back with 6 unanswered of our own to put this thing out of reach.  They got the last one and it finished 8-4 for the Good Guys!  Take that ya Bull Bastards!!!

Andy and Pierre disagreed on the Bautista "Bat Flip"....can you believe it!  Pierre and Andy arguing! Ya, know it's Hockey Season when!

And we're off !!!

"Summer Fatness" - Ti-ga
Here we go!  Another season is under way.  Ti-ga has filed this report from game one.

We had a good game going.  We lost 4-1.  It was tied until the 10 min mark.  The Leafs carried the play and we scrambled a lot trying to work off summer fatness.

We had 3 lines (2 centres) and 4 defence.  Not a bad outing against the Leafs.

Dynomites 2015

Here we are again.  Another year in the books and to finish off we're hitting the annual Dynomites tournament.

Off to a good start. Beat the Riverview Reds 6-1 yesterday. Next up is the Gagnon Chocolateers.

Tied the Gagnon Chocolateers 1-1.  Sloppy game. We should have put these guys away.  Just one of those games.

Beat the Saint John Rangers 11-1 or something stupid like that.  It was their second game of the day and you could tell they were gassed.  It was only 3-1 after the first and we smarten'ed up and finished them off.

The Finals
So here we are again in the finals for the third year in a row vs. the Dieppe Storm.  We headed into the finals down 3 players.  Ti-Gas, Matt, and Scott all bailed.
So on the back end we had Skinny P., Andy, Jody, and Marc.  Upfront we went with two centers and three sets of wingers.  Uriah, Noe, Gilles, PA, JP, Karl, Ti-Boy, and yours truly.

Skinny P got us on the board first with a shot from the point that had a little pin-ball action and found the back of the net.  Dom was goaling well and it was back and forth.  It was pretty evenly matched. Me, Ti-Boy, and Noe combined to make it 2-0 as Noe banged home a loose puck in front of the net.  We seemed to be gaining momentum and were feeling in control as the first period ended.
Shortly into the second is when IT...happened.
Uriah's stick come up on one of their guys and caught him in the nose.  It drew blood. So, it was a 5 minutes major and Uriah is out of the game only minutes into the 2nd.

So now our lines are all fucked up.  They scored one during the 5 minutes, and then literally seconds after the penalty was up, they scored to tie it at 2-2.  Ok, reset, let's chill and get back at it.
Then, a shot around the glass in our end takes a funny deflection off one of the dividers and bounces right out front on their stick...Bang! 3-2.
Ok, shitty bounce, we still have about 7 or 8 minutes left.
Again, it's back and forth, we're still in this thing looking to tie.
Then JP whacks a guy's stick out of his hands and the fucking ref calls a slashing with about 5 minutes to go....cheap damn call in a one goal final game.
Of course they score on the PP to make it 4-2.
We pull Dom and give it one last gasp but can't find the back of the net.
They score an empty netter with under a minute left and it ends 5-2.

If we would have had our full roster for the finals, I'm sure we win that damn game.  Because we were already short, and losing a player, we didn't have the depth on the bench to adjust or overcome it.

So now, we've become the Buffalo Bills (4 straight Super Bowls, no wins) of the Dynomites...3 straight years to the finals with nothing but a fucking T-shirt to show for it.

Keep on Rolling!

Beat the Red Bastards last night 6-2.  We actually had 10 skaters!  On the backend we had Gauvin, PA, Matt, and Brian.  Upfront yours truly, Paul, Michel, Guy, Noe, and Karl.  We jumped out to a 3-0 lead I think.  Then we exchanged goals to make it 4-1.  They got another to come within two, but that was as close as they got.  Ronnie was solid.  By his own admission there wasn't a lot of shots, but they came in clusters.  At the other end Rob made some good save to keep it from a blow out.
We're in the final stretch of the season, seven (7) games left and we can put this season to bed!  That means Spring has gotta be around the corner, right?

8 Skaters in the Snow!

ENOUGH !!!!
That’s right! 8 men showed up last night in the “storm that finished at 5:30 PM”. Oh! And Matt was there too with his 2 new luffas. These were from his new sponsors, Jean Coutu feminine hygiene department and Cross Roads for Women.

We played the Islanders last night, they had 9 skaters to our 8. But you could see the determination in our eyes! Maybe it was the stars, because the storm had passed at 5:30 PM, and the skies were clear, as well as the roads!

We jumped out to a 2-0 lead. The guys looked liked they were going light up the other goalie. I think the first one was a weak one. This seemed to give the illusion that we were on cruise control, but they quickly tied it up after numerous spectacular saves by our goalie. (At least that’s how I remember it!)

They went ahead 3-2 on a shot from the corner that went off my stick. Bad goal. They kept coming at us, they had some good skaters and moved the puck well. Guy spent half the night in the penalty box. I think he was blaming his skates as he was always trying to wipe the snow off of them, and it looked like he was talking to them??? He quickly redeemed himself after the 3rd penalty with 2 goals to give us the edge 4-3. The Islanders pressed hard, pulling their goalie with 2 mins left, but our strong defensive??? what I meant to say was our strong goaltending sealed the win for the good guys. The highlight of the night was Matt’s ability to calculate the exact amount of length to miss the open net by to make a perfect bank pass behind the net to Noe on the other side for an easier tap in. Great job Matt!

God Damned Face Off!

WTF !!!
Got a stinking 5-5 tie with the Red Bastards at the Cage.  This one we can put down with an (*).  We had a full crew and they were short so Gilles and Marc crossed over to even things up a bit. For us on the back end we had Brian, Ti-ga, Matt, and Andy.  Upfront we yours truly, Karl, Noe, PA, Guy, JP, and Gauvin. They got on the board first to make it 1-0.  We then ripped off the next four to make it 4-1.  Both Ronnie and Rob "The Red Bastard" were on their game and made some great saves at both ends.  Of course it didn't end there.  We got lazy and they stormed back to tie it 4-4.  JP banged one home from his office to grab a one goal lead 5-4 with about 7 or 8 minutes left.
We got a late tripping penalty with a little over a minute left.  As it played out, there was one more face off with about 10 seconds left.  I tied up the center man and the puck was in our feet.  Somehow it squirted out and they one-timed it top corner with 2 fucking seconds left to tie it....CALISSE !!!!

Super Seven Part "Deux"

Matt, you really need new pants
That's right Kids!  The Super Seven played a barn burner vs. the Bulls last night at the Cage.  They only had seven as well so we played 4-on-4...it was a blast! Well, the goalies might not have had as much fun as we did, but whatever...they're Goalies! lol
It ended 12 or 11 to 10, it was hard to keep track, but we managed to beat them by 2 or 3.
Up front, the speedy Ti-Boy, Paul, Gilles, and myself.  On D we had Pierre, then we had two "Rovers", PA and Matt.  It was actually a lot of fun, lots of ice and a little extra time to make some plays.

Harder than it had to be

What the Hell !!!
We beat Alexandria 6-5 in what should not have been that hard.  We had 12 skaters!  The Mouldy bunch had only 7...and we barely squeaked it out.  We got up 4-2 at one point and were in control.  Then we started to get lazy and they started to pin us in.  Throw in some penalties and all of sudden they peeled off 3 in a row to take the lead 5-4!  We finally woke up and Brian tied it with his second of the game with around 3 minutes to go.  Guy and Gauvin had a great little give and go off a turn over and Guy got the winner with a little over a minute to play...Phew!!!
We made it harder than it had to be, especially with 12 skaters vs. 7.
On to the next one.

Save of the year and Shower Pom-Poms

Hey we had 10 skaters!  Shocking, I know.  On the Blue line we had Ti-ga, Marc, Matt, and PA.  Upfront the incredible shrinking, I have no energy, I dream of Glazed Hams Gauvin, Guy, Paul, Karl, Gilles and yours truly.
We beat the Draggins 2-1 in another sloppy affair. It's like we play down to these guys.  We got on the board first and they tied it not long after.  Karl got the winner with a tip in from a feed from Matt at the point.  It was just mess out there, we constantly coughed it up and for what ever reason and just couldn't seem to hang on to it.  They don't forcheck very well and just hang around the neutral zone getting sticks in the lanes and creating turn overs. We had to kill a couple of penalties down the stretch to hang on to the win.
The highlight of the night was Ronnie's save of the year.  Down and out after making the initial save from a point shot, Ronnie sprawled backwards in desperation and snatched one as Buddy was going to bang in the rebound.  Ronnie was solid and was the difference for us.

"It's like a massage", ya, whatever Matt.
Now I'd like to introduce to you Matt's new shower buddy.  The moans coming from the shower as he scrubbed his carcass was awkward to say the leaset.  Email him your favorite colour because he claims, "Ya gotta try it, it's awesome!" and now we're afraid he's going to show up at the next game with a box of them for everyone.
Hey Matt!  I want mine on a stick for those hard to reach places.

Loss and a Tie

First let's deal with last Thursday.  We got smoked by Here for Beer. We only had nine skater...I had to play center, so that should be all you need to know about that.  Upfront we had yours truly, Karl, Ti-boy, Paul, Noe, and Dan (new guy). On the back end we had Matt or Andy, can't remember, Gauvin, and PA. It was ugly.  We lost big.

Yuck!!!
Tie
We tied the Orange Bastards last nigh 1-1.  They had 12 skaters out, which is the most of seen from them in a while.  We managed to scrape together nine. Up front we had Guy, JP, Karl, Gauvin, Gilles and myself.  On the blue line we had Ti-Ga, PA, and Andy. It was scoreless for half of the game until JP got us on the board.  Then JP crashed their goalie on a rush with Guy.  They were none to happy.  Of course "Karma" took over, and they went down the next shift and scored to tie it up.  Ronnie was solid and made some good saves, and we couldn't seem to hit the net.
So there ya have it, a loss and a tie....bleck!

Down go the Bulls

Actually had a decent turn out, 11 skaters!  I know shocking.  I think we found a new left winger for Guy!  Upfront yours truly, Gauvin, Karl, Hob, Guy, Noe, and Paul.  On the back end we had Matt, Brian, Andy, and Ti-ga.  Noe lead the charge with four goals! He was "Johnny on the Spot" all night.  Can't remember the sequence but this one was never in doubt. We had a comfortable lead at 5-1 in the later stages.  Then Ronnie decided to skate over during a shift change to tell us, "Hey, you guys can let them have a few shots". Ok, Sparky! Right after the face off they came down and the first shot was in. Pow! Just like that Ronnie?  Is that what you meant?
We got another one, to make it 6-2, then in the final minutes, Matt decided to make a rush, collided with their D-man at our Blue line with the rest of us already heading up ice. Turn-over, in the net, beauty!
No matter, 6-3 for the Good Guys, take that ya Bulls!

Tough one

Ah, Crap!
Lost a tough one last night at the Cage.  On the blue line we had Matt, Marc, Andy, and Brian.  Up front yours truly, Paul, PA, Gauvin, Guy, Noe, Karl, and JP. Hadn't played at the cage in a while so it seemed like everything was going 100mph.  It was a good pace.  They got on the board first and then we tied it on the next shift to make it 1-1.  They got the go ahead goal to make it 2-1 and it stayed that way for a while.  Ron had a solid night between the pipes and the guy at the other end frustrated us all night.  We had tons of chances but just couldn't bury one.
We finally got the tying goal to make 2-2 and were definitely carrying the play at this point.  But, they had one guy who wasn't there last time who was pretty much their whole offence. They popped one to take the lead again, and sucked the wind out of us. After that, one guy went coast-to-coast and used our D as a screen and put one Five Hole on Ronnie to make it 4-2.  We got one in the dying seconds but too little too late.  Down we go 4-3 to the Alexandria Mouldy Bastards!

Thought I'd add this little email exchange from Gauvin and Ti-Boy asking how we made out. Can't you just feel the "LOVE"
-----------------------------------------------------
Pierre -

How was the couche Ti-Boy.. did you find your remote control?

We lost 4 to 3 but was a close game… couldn’t buy a goal.   Douggie hammered one in on a highly risky insurgence while the whole bench was yelling at him to stay at the blue line to cover for forward/defencemen Matt.

Then Ronnie did 2 scissors in a row…it’s supposed to be a split but his but is still a foot off the ground…

Then Mark Saulnier had a Go20 night…   -4.

All fun and games…   let us know what happened on the Gilmore Girls!!!
Feel the Love xoxoxo

Ti-Boy

Loser ,i was freezing my ass off in the Hillsborough arena. Pierre you should go back to our old league where fighting "small  people" was your thing

Can't make Chicken Soup with Chicken Shit !

Want some Chicken Soup ?
Yup, can't make chicken soup with chicken shit! The Investors Group laid a beating on us 10-3 last night.  I'd like to thank the the eight (8) skaters who shared that wonderful experience.  Ti-ga, PA, Brian, Gilles, Ti-boy, Hob, and Karl.  This was the team we had 6-1 and they came all the way back to beat us 7-6 "Then Gauvin Showed Up"
They had their full squad out, and I asked before the game if any of them wanted some extra ice time, that we were short.  Nope....alrighty then.  It wasn't pretty.  We got smoked. We were gassed barely 25 minutes in and they just kept coming.  On what chances we did get, we managed to flub them up. Ronnie made some great saves, but also had a few "adventures" shall we say.  We weren't much help.
So there ya have it.  After starting the year with 3 wins, we come crashing down hard with that one.  Mark it, we owe them a better effort next time.

Early morning Win!

This is hockey in Floriday, right?
Got an early morning 3-0 shutout on Sunday. Beat the Orange Bastards good.  Should have been worse, only we couldn't score...again.  Out shot them but their goalie was busy and kept it respectable. Jeff guest starred for us between the pipes and pitched a no-hitter!  Didn't have to make a lot of saves but made a few real good ones and earned the doughnut!  Up front we had yours truly, Gilles, Ti-Boy, Noe, JP, Guy, and Karl.  On the back end we had Matt, Gauvin, PA, and Ti-ga.
Not much to say other than it was a beat down.  Being the first on the ice at 8am makes for GREAT ICE!  Not that it improved our game, but it was nice.
So take that ya Orange Bastards, 3-0 for the good guys.
Jeff planted the seed about heading to Florida to play...of course this was upstairs having breakfast and "Pops" at 10am after the game.

That was Oogly !

Well that was Oogly!
Well we made that harder than it had to be.  We beat the Draggins 4-3 last night a UdeM.  On the back end we had Ti-ga, PA, Andy, and Jody.  Up front yours truly, Ti-boy, JP, Karl, Jason and we had a Hob sighting.  John was between the pipes and played a solid game for us. This was by far one of the weaker teams we've faced this year.  They had three full lines so I'm guessing that's as good as it gets for them.  They got on the board first, then we got the next two to take the lead 2-1.  We traded goals to make it 3-2 and then they tied it to make it 3-3.  We got the go ahead goal and that's the way she stayed for the last 8 to 10 minutes.
It wasn't pretty, we should have put these guys away no problem, but their goalie was solid and without him it would not have been close at all. We played a lazy game and let these guys hang around. So there ya have it, take that ya Draggin Bastards.  A Fugly win but we'll take it, 4-3 for the Good Guys!
