Dougie,
Not sure where to start?
On Thursday we played the Blue Bastards. We
jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the game, then it went down hill from there.
We held on to the 1 goal lead for what felt like a long time. I remember
standing there after one of my saves, thinking I had just stopped about my
twenty fifth shot, sweating like the pig I am, my legs starting to feel like
tree stumps. I looked up at the clock, and there was 47 mins left!!!!
At that time, I knew we were in for a long
night. We lost 7-3. I don’t think it was ever that close, even when we had the
1-0 lead. The highlight of the night was Karl’s buddy. I believe they said his
name was Mike, but I think it was a bad version of Ron Duguay and Barry
Melrose. They guy had a real mullet! That was the only good part of his game!
In the room prior to the game, he looked like he had an edge to him. But I was
wrong, there was no edge. I don’t think his skates had edges either.
On Saturday night, we faired a little better
against the Red Bastards. We won the game 4-3. We jumped out to a 3-0 lead
within the first 10 mins. At that point, we had decided that we would walk all
over them. So we watched them play for the next 40 minutes. And play they did!
They tied it up at 3 apiece. This seemed to light a spark under our jock straps
as we clawed our way into their zone and PA jammed one past Rob the goalie to
seal the victory for the good guys!
